When you get to a certain age especially around your mid-30's for women, it seems that you are desperately trying to find a way to slow down the aging process . OK, so I've thought of the anti aging creams, make up and all the other stuff but really you need sheer patience with that. I really hate waiting around for something to happen.

I have never been a fitness person, running and the gym bores me out of my wits. I really have wanted to find a fitness program that I'll enjoy and that I'll see definite results. I am not getting any younger at all.

I'm needing something to do with my body, yes I may not be overweight but I am not getting anymore toned, you should see my belly - I literally have a  couple of hills due a C-section across my lower abdomen, not a pretty sight. I'm thinking if I get toned will it look any better? So I challenged myself to do something about it and one thing came to find on how to get toned and have fun - Pole dancing!

Why not? Because Polecats Manila just happened to have opened up a special class for Moms (and more). I was pretty intimidated to join regular beginners classes thinking I'll be with younger women (or girls) and I wasn't up to comparing myself with them. So I got pretty much excited to try out the class for myself (kaya ko 'toh!)

The class is called Moms and more, it's a slow paced class for those that have busy schedule and of course for Moms like me.

I was lucky enough that my good Kumare came along and off we went to the Thursday session. We decided to walk-in and see if it would do us any good.

Entering the premises itself we were greeted with full energy by the receptionist and instructress, Ceedee. Seeing the area gave me the jitters. We asked to change into our workout clothes and did introductions then lead to the floor to stretch, stretching was full body starting from top to bottom including toes.

Cristina Dy (Instructor), Me (white top) and my Kumare during warm-up.
We were taught each step with repetitions using relaxing music (I wish I could remember the playlist), which slowly evolved into a short but satisfying routine (see video below of completed, I ask you to watch with caution and at your own visual risk *gulp*).

I urge you to try it for yourself, you ain't gonna lose anything and you most probably will gain instead.

Me after class, feeling great, photos taken by Cristina Dy.

Will I do it again? Absolutely yes! Can't wait for my next session.

  1. Wow. This is interesting. I used to dance but have never tried pole dancing before. I bet if I learn a couple of moves hubby would be the happiest guy alive. It's just a bit far from home :(

    1. Definitely a fun way, I know I get bored with jogging and going to the gym. I believe there are studios within your area that offer pole dancing lessons :)I think the nearest is in Paranaque: Symmetry Dance.
