Beauty Review| The Oval Make-up Brush: What's Good?

I have formed this habit of buying brushes and one of the latest trends is the Oval brush. Locally known also as the "paddle brush" or "dome brush".

For starters, I purchased online the regular sized generic Oval brush to test if there is a difference from  the regular brushes.

The Oval brush can have several uses but I chose to use it with my concealer instead.

These Oval brushes was made popular by the brand Artis and has been featured by famed beauty vloggers like Haley Wight of Cosmobyhaley and Nikkie of Nikkietutorials. I was so curious as to where I could get my hands on the oval brushes. But the Oval 6 brush from Artis (which is similar to the one I have) is $45 alone!

I'm going to stick for the generic kind for the meantime. ^_^

Blending is always important with foundation and concealer and you want to make sure you to avoid caking or streaking  This brush will truly help you apply your product flawlessly. Used correctly, your make up will look as though it was airbrushed!

Super dense bristles!

So here is my review on this sought after brush.

What I liked:
  • Bristles - unbelievably soft and so dense! It doesn't hurt or feel itchy when you use it on your face.
  • Handle - I loved that it gave you a firm grip for control, that could help you use the brush effectively. I had a hard time at first getting used to the angle but now it feels so comfortable with the angle of my wrist.
  • Distribution of product - amazingly it doesn't sip most of your product into the bristles which makes it super tipid! Also, you get a clean and even distribution of your product, totally looking as though your make up was airbrushed.
  • Easy to clean - I find the texture of the bristles very smooth, so when washing the bristles the product washes out easily.
  • Price - not overpriced and you get what you paid for.
  • Use - This brush has several uses, you can also use it for eye shadow application, cheek color, cheek contour, concealer (which I use it for), foundation, bronzing, and setting powder.
What could have been better:
  • Handle and head material - I can't be choosy, the price itself was a steal. The handle is made of plastic so you can expect that you'll get marks of your fingers on the handle. My concealer also seeped into the edge of the head of the brush which is hard to clean.
  • Size - I want a bigger one!! So it's not the brushes fault hahaha.
I am absolutely eyeing the whole generic set but still saving up. Hehe.

How do you use it?

Let my mini video show you how! I also do mini reviews on my Instagram, so you might want to follow me. :)

  1. I didn't know such a brush existed! And for P100, wow, especially if the hair is not synthetic!

For P100--even for P120--that's a steal esp if the hair is not synthetic!

  4. Looks like a good product! it's just sad that I don't know how to apply make up so as of the moment I don't need one. I really envy you and all beauty bloggers who are Pro's when it comes to make ups!
